Attribution and Causality Analyses of Regional Climate Variability

چکیده

A two-step attribution and causality diagnostic is designed by employing singular spectrum analysis to unfold the attributed climate time series into a trajectory matrix then subjected an empirical orthogonal function identify evolving driving forces, which can finally be related major modes through their independent frequencies wavelet analysis. Application results from arid drought-prone southern Intermountain region of North America are compared with or larger scale forcing diagnosed slow feature using sources water energy flux balance. The following noted: (i) changes between subsequent four 20-year periods 1930 2010 suggest predominantly climate-induced Pacific Decadal Oscillation Atlantic Multidecadal Oscillation. (ii) Land cover influences on changing land considerably smaller magnitude (in terms area percentage cover) whose evolution well documented forestation documents. (iii) drivers forcings within last 20 years identified as quasi-biennial oscillation El Niño–Southern both inter-annual diagnostics monthly scale-based

Detection and attribution of climate change: a regional perspective

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change fourth assessment report, published in 2007 came to a more confident assessment of the causes of global temperature change than previous reports and concluded that ‘it is likely that there has been significant anthropogenic warming over the past 50 years averaged over each continent except Antarctica.’ Since then, warming over Antarctica has also be...

.Detection and Attribution of Changing in Seasonal variability cause of climate change (Case study: Hillsides of Central Southern Alborz Mountains) Abstract One of the most important challenges for the human communities is Global Warming. This vital problem affected by Climate Change and corresponding effects. Thus this article attempted to assess the trend of real climate variables from syno...

Attribution of Climate Change in the Presence of Internal Variability

Spontaneous, internally-generated variability of the climate system is pervasive. On the multidecadal time scale it dominates the variability of surface air temperature averaged over extratropical land areas as large as the contiguous United States, and it modulates the rate of rise of global mean temperature in response to the buildup of greenhouse gases. Unforced variability is one of the fac...

Sensitivity of climate change detection and attribution to the characterization of internal climate variability

The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change’s (IPCC) ‘‘very likely’’ statement that anthropogenic emissions are affecting climate is based on a statistical detection and attribution methodology that strongly depends on the characterization of internal climate variability. In this paper, the authors test the robustness of this statement in the case of global mean surface air temperature, under...

Causality attribution biases oculomotor responses.

When viewing one object move after being struck by another, humans perceive that the action of the first object "caused" the motion of the second, not that the two events occurred independently. Although established as a perceptual and linguistic concept, it is not yet known whether the notion of causality exists as a fundamental, preattentional "Gestalt" that can influence predictive motor pro...
